Easter Sunday Cross Kid's Craft

Updated: Apr 30, 2020

This cross is a visual reminder of what Jesus went through on the cross for us.

Happy Easter, everyone! I hope you're staying safe this year as you celebrate! This is a good Kid's Craft because it shows the sacrifice Jesus made to save us in a hands-on kind of way.

What You Need

-thin cardboard, like from a cereal box

-scissors

-tissue paper in different colors

-black Tempera paint

-brown acrylic paint

-paintbrush

-hot glue gun

-several markers or Sharpies in different colors

Instructions

The first thing I did was to cut two skinny rectangles from the cardboard box of two different lengths.

Next I took a black and a red marker and wrote words on the longer rectangle. Some examples of words you could write are love, sacrifice, atonement, etc. I wrote Love several times to signify how much love God has for us. You can do the same thing with any word you like, of course.

I then painted the shorter rectangle with a base coat of black Tempera paint. When the base coat had slightly dried, I painted over it with brown Acrylic paint. While that dried, I flipped over the longer part of the cross I had written on and hot glued pieces of tissue paper to the back. I then hot glued the shorter rectangle side-ways onto the front. And there you have it! An easy yet meaningful cross project for Easter!
