This handy advent calendar is a great hands-on project, and perfect for helping to answer the question, "how many days 'till Christmas?"
I know, It's not even December, but I'm just so! excited! for! Christmas! that I had to start early! I had my calendar start 11 days before Christmas, kinda like a 12 days of Christmas thing, you know? This calendar is really versatile though, so you can put on however many days you want.
How To Make
Instructions
The first thing I did was to choose several generic Christmas cards from our big box of leftover cards, cut them out, and set them aside. You can choose any theme you want, but I chose to go with the traditional Christmas story, plus some presents and snowflakes thrown in for good measure!
Next, I took a piece of paper and accordion-folded it. I then cut along every other fold, so that I ended up with three long folded pieces of paper, like this.
Then I accordion-folded sideways along the paper to make small boxes.
I cut along the folds to make twelve boxes. Two of them are really long in the photo, but that was due to a folding error. You can make them all the same size, though!
After that, I glued each of the Christmas card pictures into the boxes and labeled them.
Finally, I glued the boxes to a piece of construction paper.
And there you have it! An easy Countdown Calendar for Christmas!
