This simple game is great for toddlers and young children still learning colors and shapes.
This game is simple, but it will delight young children while teaching important concepts. The purpose of the game is to try to guess the food underneath the flap that corresponds to the color of the flap. (i.e. an apple is under the red flap.)
What You Need
-Cardboard
-acrylic paint
-paintbrush
-Sharpie
-markers
-scissors
-double-stick tape
-piece of white paper
Instructions
The first thing I did was to cut a piece of cardboard to size. This can be any size you want, but it should be fairly big, so small hands don't have difficulty lifting the flaps.
Next I cut three flaps in the cardboard. Try to make them big enough for little fingers to lift easily.
After that, I painted the cardboard a neutral color, and the three flaps bright colors. You can choose any color you want, but make sure you can find foods or other objects to match the colors you paint the flaps.
I turned the whole thing over and used double-stick tape to attach a piece of white paper to the back.
Finally, I used markers to draw different colored foods under their matching colored flaps, and wrote Lift-the-Flap Game on the cardboard with the Sharpie. And there you have it! A learning game for young children!
